We've seen stamp duty paid, we've seen deposit contributions, we've even seen Range Rovers thrown in as part of the deal. But a free pad in Cornwall!Article by Christopher Middleton in The Telegraph. Why shouldn't estate agents adopt supermarket sales tactics? It's not so long ago that unwanted houses in Salford were being sold on a buy-one-get-one-free basis, and now the same stack 'em high strategy has come south.Buy a flat in Lewisham, and for an all-inclusive price of £324,950, you also get an apartment at soon-to-be-built Pebble Beach Village, in North Cornwall, five miles inland from the surf beaches, and roughly half way between Newquay and Padstow. These apartments aren't enormous (they're called “surfers' suites”, and range from 360 to 506 sq ft), but they do have a timber-floored living room, a kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. And they are housed in glass-fronted lodges, around a health club with spa, swimming pool, gymnasium, two hard tennis courts and a nine-hole golf course. The two-property deal is being marketed under the slogan Surf and Turf, alternatively known as Wave and Pave, Bare Feet and Street, Bricks and Water (you get the picture). The price you pay for the Lewisham flat is £225,000 and for the surfing suite £99,950 (total £324,950).Which means that before you can come up for air, you have a property in London and a second home in the West Country. What's more, the firm offering this deal, Galliard Homes (www.galliardhomes.com, 020 7620 1500) will rent out your Cornish residence, and guarantee an annual six per cent return for five years. We've seen stamp duty paid, we've seen deposit contributions, we've even seen Range Rovers thrown in as part of the deal. But a free pad in Cornwall!
